I should post this in the MCAT discussion forum but I realize most ppl there probably are not in my situation. I was a biochemistry major who also finished graduate school. Later, I went to law school and as you can see, I left science awhile ago. I am in my late 20's now. Now I would like to go to medical school in the near future. Although most concepts are still familiar to me, I am afraid my physics background has faded into distant memory. As a bio person, I only took first year physics in undergrad and that was 8-9 years ago. I am quite concerned about how some science concepts are beginning to fade away; and I am just wondering what is the best way for me to study for the MCAT; I have not scheduled my MCAT yet but I plan to finish this thing within a year. I don't plan on applying for medicine for at least a year or maybe even two years since I will be working for awhile.

How many real AAMC practice exams do you recommend? What books should I read? Please help.

my physics experience was about 5 years ago and while studying for the MCAT, i got the EK book with the 1001 questions and feel pretty confident using these 2 things.

My physics experience was 22 years ago. I retook physics I and added physics II before even CONSIDERING the MCAT.

Audit or take Physics I and II again - you can audit them both and the same time.

I retook physics too since it had been so long, and I felt it helped quite a bit in understanding the concepts that were on the MCAT. I also took a Princeton Review course on the weekends, which really helped me focus on the meat of the subjects. And I did the Princeton and AAMC practice tests. 5-7 tests felt about right...it's really more about learning how to take the test and feeling comfortable managing the passages and the time.
