Hi everyone,

My DAT is scheduled on July 19, 2011 and I have a question about how long it takes most people to study for Bio and QR.

I have started studying on March 1st and am done with whatever was covered in organic chemistry 1 (I spent about 5 hours during breaks and after school) and am sensing that I will cover organic chemistry 2 material quicker since I have a very strong organic chemistry background and pretty much still remember most of the mechanisms.

I also forced myself to cover 4 bio chapters from Cliffs study guide and I just have to admit that taking 9 bio (trip) courses is finally paying off 😀

Time is so imperative because am currently a junior in a clinical laboratory science program and have to deal with studying for my classes and the DAT. I also don’t have summers off (clinicals), so I have to finalize everything by the end of May.

I just hope that am not fooling myself by taking it too easy...🙁

Bio requires a heck lot of time. If you can retain information well, then you're set. As for me, I have a hard time retaining information so I kind to forget what I learn easily. I studied for 3.5 weeks and I did fine. I didn't focus too much on QR because it's the sciences that really count.

Good luck!

You are giving yourself plenty of time! The key with the biology, ochem and genchem sections is repitition! You have to go over it many times before it sinks in, once you finish chapters from cliffs, go back and re-read them and see how much of the information you actually have retained!

Good Luck,

Jon

Thanks guys I appreciate it ... i just went over OC 1 reactions again during the break today ..
well, I will be spending my spring break studying for GC and bio how nice...it is really challenging to find a study time since we do have a test almost every week 🙁

Haha! July 19th is my B day! Good luck! For bio I did DAT destroyer and redone it 2 times to make sure i memorized those that I did wrong it worked really well. For most study material I suggest u go back couple times to make sure u got the wrong answers right. U have plenty of time, so good luck!!!!
