Hi everyone, I am taking the DAT next summer and i was curious to know what should I buy now to study. I just want to study for bio and chemistry this summer to see how well i know these subjects. I was going to buy the destroyer from a person in offerup but she had the 2017 version and i am taking the exam in 2019 will this make a difference? Shes selling everything for 200 and theres a lot of helpful material but everything is from 2017, any advice?

Thank you

Honestly, there really isn't a need to study this summer if you are taking the exam next summer. By then, you would need to relearn all the material!
For more advice on what materials to purchase I recommend searching for breakdowns in the DAT thread.
Lastly, I would say that the version of Destroyer isn't terribly important. Newer versions will contain the new style of QR questions and more practice questions. However, there are basic concepts from all sections that you need to understand which will be featured in all versions. So it's a personal choice whether you wanna buy used or new. Agreed. I think that the best advice I could give you if you are going to take the DAT next summer would be to really try to master the material of your current coursework. I would especially pay attention to O Chem and Gen Chem. The foundation you set for yourself in these courses is really going to dictate your success on those portions of the DAT.

Honestly, Biology is more of a game of trivia that you can memorize from Destroyer.

If you did anything, you might want to start playing around with the free PAT simulator from DAT bootcamp once a week. That will give you an idea of what you will need for next summer.

Thank you for the reply, and I dont rwally want to do an all depth study but rather just too see where im at, i will tutor chemistry in fall so that will also help me retain more. But besides the studying and all that do you think the 2017 version will be dramatically different? Or would it be dumb for me to purchase it if im taking the exam in 2019? I just want a source of study thats accurate to what I will see you know

In Destroyer - GC, OC, and Bio should be almost the same seeing as the DAT hasn't made any big changes to these sections. QR is slightly different though. I would not start studying with Destroyer, it is more of a testing tool. It would just be rather defeating to try going through Destroyer without going through a full review of GC, OC and Bio first, as the questions are quite difficult. I think you will have plenty of time to figure out where you're at once you are ready to start studying next summer. I'd recommend heading over to DAT Bootcamp's website and reading up on the study guide and strategy material they provide for free. I agree that if anything, you should start checking out the PAT simulators. It is great that you're already thinking about the test, though!

I found that the PAT and RC sections stay with you for a very long time. I would say getting an understanding of those would help you in the long run.

There’s a free angle ranking app and hole punching app available for your phone too.
