Hey everybody,

I'm a rising Junior in college and I am planning on taking the DAT's sometime next summer (either July or August). I just started studying for the DAT's, but I need some advice on how to go about doing it. I have already taken all the pre-reqs and all the info is still somewhat fresh in my mind (I took a few of the pre-reqs 3 years ago, but I still remember a lot of it). I currently have Kaplan's book (bought it about a year and a half ago) and I am planning on getting Cliff's AP bio book. I have also thought about buying the DAT destroyer book, but I'm thinking I would be better off buying it sometime in the future (in December/January), as well. Are these three books sufficient for studying for the DATs? Should I buy DAT destroyer now and concentrate on that more than the Kaplan book (in terms of the Bio material...the genchem and Ochem material in that book is pretty good, from what i hear)?? Should I purchase any additional books/study aids, as well?

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks.

I havent taken the DAT yet, but will be in a month.

I think Kaplan BB is a great start. It organizes specific sections pretty well so you can base your studies off that. The concensus is that Kaplan is too vague, esp in the Bio section so additional supplement material might be needed.

As for DAT Destroyer, I just ordered it. From what I read, it's just a book loaded with questions. So starting on that before doing any previous studies in my opinion is just a waste of time. Sure, you can look at the questions and memorize the answers like how to do them or what not, but if you just plain dont understand the concepts, it would be pretty useless when it comes to the real DAT.

Do crack Pat and begin reviewing math
Biology - use Cliffs AP
You can start with the reviews in Kaplan, but once you have that you should def get Destroyer. It finds all your weaknesses and has great explanations!

Good Luck!
