Hey guys, I'm gonna be taking the DAT for the first time in late June. I've been studying the Kaplan blue book some, but once the semester is over I plan on studying full time. I've got a used DAT destroyer, CDP 10 test edition, and an old Schaums biology book. I'm not very strong in math, so I'm debating on purchasing CDM. I want to get in the first go around, so I'm shooting for twenties. Do you think a month and a half of studying is enough time to prepare to get these scores? I'm a biology major, with a good GPA and good extracurriculars. I'm gonna be applying to my state school. I'd appreciate any tips or recommendations.

It all depends on where you stand as far as the sciences are concerned. A month and a half is enough to prepare yourself depending on how much you remember from your classes, and how much you need to review. I studied around a month and a half, but I didn't have to spend much time on bio since I'm a bio major, so I only focused on the chems for the most part. If you've gotten through the Kaplan BB, you have a general sense of where you stand.

Start by making a schedule, leading up to the test. Stick to that schedule, and try to switch topics every couple days or so. Aim to be done with all review 2 weeks before your test, and just take practice tests in those last 2 weeks. I think it should be enough time, and if it isn't you can always reschedule 2 business days before the test, which many of us end up doing.

And CDM is good, but I felt the explanations are horrible and it has a crap load of errors. In the end, its still good practice, so I won't tell you to not buy it. If you need practice, then absolutely try it out because it will help you with timing and the overall feel for that section.
