Studybooks for Biochem

Is there any one by a certain company that is best when studying for biochemistry? My cousin has a Lippincott's version, but its about a few years old and is in use by someone else (so, no luck for me there.. boo).

Did anyone use those study books or did you just use the class textbook that the professor uses?

Nothing has changed in biochem, so a few years old won't make a difference. I bought the UF textbook and used it for studying. I also used my undergrad biochem book which I thought was difficult at the time but in hindsight is very simplistic. For general topics, it did a better job than the UF textbook but it did lack some of the in-depth topics we covered.

If you don't have a simpler undergrad book, then I think a study book is a good idea.

Go to Amazon.com and purchase Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Biochemistry. I used it in Clinical Biochemistry class and it had everything. From what I have been able to gather, the purpose of this book is to be a USMLE Step 1 review for M.D./D.O. students.

Yeah, I know. I would have borrowed that book, but my cousin has to use it for his USMLE review.

OU uses "Clinical Biochemistry Made Rediculously Simple" as a text suppliment. Amazons reviews are pretty mixed on it, but if you can pick up a used copy somewhere it may help.
