Hey Guys,

As some of you know I'm finding it reaaaally hard to buckle down and get myself to study Bio. I feel like the Chemistry sections are coming along well, and I'm gonna start going through Destroyer for those this week. I find it almost impossible to sit down and read a chapter of Cliff's, bio just really bores me! I'm wondering if I should just start bio destroyer, and as I do EACH question, stop and make notes about that topic. What do you guys think? I really don't know how you guys can just read Cliff's and retain info, it's not working for me. I'm more of a problem based learner.

Is everyone taking notes while they study Cliffs/Destroyer/BB ?
How does my strategy of jumping into Destroyer sound?

i think you should read cliff's first and do the questions at the end of each chapter. the chapters themselves are really not that long. if you are having trouble retaining info, take notes, make flashcards, read and reread, whatever works! bio is one of the harder sciences on the DAT, in my opinion, and it's really really important to get all the basics down. cliff's provides a good foundation. i read through kaplan at least once, and cliff's about twice, took notes, used my kaplan flashcards, and just kept rereading stuff i forgot. honestly, destroyer bio didn't help me out all that much, but i did go through it. good luck!

You have found your match!!! 😛 I have the exact problem you're describing, only mine pertains general chem. Bio is coming along quite nicely... The two of us are match in heaven.. we should study together and teach one another! 😉

I read straight through Cliff's, and then started working through destroyer. I think note-taking is too time-intensive at this late date (exam on the 27th), so I just focus on reading and recollecting.

Hmm, yah I still have about a month left. Although I do start taking 5 classes as of Sept 9th. So my goal for the next 2 weeks, while i have no class, is to learn all the sciences inside out and go through destroyer once. Then I'll have a couple weeks to practice CDP, CDM and topscore.

I think I'll take your suggestions and just FORCE myself to start taking notes on cliffs... one chapter.. at a time... 😴

This will NOT be fun.. i think the only way I'm gonna b able to do it is go to the library without my laptop.. just cliffs and some paper! Ahh.. not looking forward to the coming week. How many hours does it take you guys to go through a chapter of cliffs while taking notes? How many do you do in one sitting?

Maybe I should've became a chemist .. 😱

depends on the chapter

the biological diversity and animal form and function are takin me a bit longer
but the ecology, evolution are pretty quick

yes takin notes is very dull, but ive put all the info onto notecards,
jus keep reviewing

you've put all of cliff's onto flashcards!? how many do you have?!? man i really dont feel like going to the library today lol...

no jus the main points and facts that i mite forgt
its very timeconsuming but part of memorizing to me involves writing it out
it helps you retain the info
and after jus keep reviewing
i have alot to do
but after i get thru the outlines,
ill be getting the 5 exam practice book which i ordered already
i suggest you do too if you have time

I think flash cards are a good idea. I'm prolly going to end up with a million but it's definitely worth it as it's the easiest way to review. Well, time to start Chapter 1.. Chemistry.. lolol😀

Let me know how those practice exam's go! Or if anyone else has tried them already that would be great!
