I am planning to study the DAT for one month (Christmas break). I realize I do not have any time with a full course schedule of science classes during fall and spring. And considering summer will be time for application. What do yall think?

I am also trying to do that... Take Dat just before spring semester starts... Hopefully it works out...

That will be one stressful Christmas break!

I would suggest going ahead and starting to study for the PAT, at least. Do a practice test when you have some free time. They're sort of fun!

This. Also Qr, start doing problems with math destroyer and make notes for formulas, so you can just review them during that 1 month. Also I would practice reading faster yet keeping information in the head, a training while you are in school.
It will be crazy 4 weeks but I think it's very doable if you have right mind set and have a set schedule.

that was my plan last year, but after ending my fall semester I was so drained... I ended up not studying at all over christmas break, but still took the DAT exam before spring semester started and I didn't do so hot... as long as you stay motivated and aren't too worn out from the fall semester then you should be okay. good luck!

This is a possible feat.

I myself studied for 37 days total (approximately 200 hours total.)

You will have to make some sacrifices though.

For me, it was no more video games, no FB, no social networking, going on SDN only once a week(even to this day I limit myself when to be on SDN), and no hanging out with friends. All I did was workout, went to class, study, cook, eat, urinate/defecate, and sleep, literally. Some people thought I died or something due to my long absence. Discipline is critical for this.

Did I regret any of this? Not really. From a cost-benefit standpoint, the benefits clearly outweighed its costs. It was a part of my future being on the line. Just think about this: Your friends won't be paying for your bills, but doing well on the DAT can open up doors to where you can.

But honestly this greatly depends on your background. I took the DAT having AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Genetics, and Biochemistry I & II under my belt along with many other unrelated chemistry courses(which I thought didn't help, if any).

You will need to map out exactly what you need to study and gauge their corresponding study time.

One thing I can definitely tell you is to worry about yourself and not about others. This is quite distracting, and it will take a toll on your confidence (you will definitely need this on the exam.)

I did one month (might have been a tick over, but not much). Try to start on bio before said month.... even if it is just a tiny bit of studying.

I used DAT Destroyer 1 month. Got a 19 AA and TS so it is doable, but you probably aren't gonna hit 25's unless you already have tons of knowledge on the subjects or study for another 4 weeks.

The guy above failed to mention that he studied 1 month with ONLY destroyer. Crazy guy.

I only studied for a month, albeit I studied for 8-10 hours a day without having to worry about cooking or work or rent.

I also went into studying having taken pretty much all the pre-reqs. Hopefully, you're taking a biology class or orgo/gc this semester, it'll help.

Hey aqz,

Can you tell me your breakdown of how you studied and what you studied in that month?

Thanks

I did this. Had to learn Bio almost from scratch, too. I literally went about 10 hrs/day for a month. Completely brutal but worth it.

So I decided to change my courses to a full load over the fall, and plan on taking my DAT during the christmas break or right before my first rounds of exam for Spring semester. Goodluck everyone !
