I think I have problem with my studying method.
I am in school, right now, and I am thinking of taking DAT on mid January.
I would say I have 'reviewed' about third of the stuff using the review schedule 'stickied' on this section.
The problem is, it takes too long for me to go over each chapter of each subject, for the second time.
Like it says on the review schedule, I quickly read over each section of KBB + Cliff's AP first, and when I read them for the second time, I really pay close attention, searching through textbooks and internet, writing notes, etc. and it takes me about 3-4 hours to go over just 1 chapter, especially biology section...
I want to keep up with the schedule as much as I can, so I will have more time to go over actual DAT practice questions and things.
It takes me 2-3 days to complete '1 day worth' of review...
Is there any suggestion for me?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hey man i know its tough to balance our your schedule you seem to be doing fine just keep going through ur textbooks and making ur notes no matter how long it takes u to get the work done.........u said ur using kaplan and cliffs u shud try to get on destroyer for science and math destroyer as well to really do more problems........work on ur pat and everything should be fine i think u shud be fine just beef it up when you get a chance to on the weekends and pull it all together. Good luck

honestly I think that most of these people use too many resources. Maybe you just need to cut back on the amount of stuff you planned on studying.

Its honestly about quality rather than quantity. Passively reading biology will get you nowhere imo. Understand everything- if it takes you more time than you expected, then just make sure it was worth the time you spent.

If you are spending too much time getting hung up on little details or problems, move on. If you are a poor reader, find a new method (flash cards, videos etc).

I'd say drop the damn cliffs and pick up barron's ap bio. Its much simpler, fun, and diagramatic (I think I just made that word up lol). The q's in there are also very similar to DAT hardness and style.

I didn't get thru half of the stuff I wanted too, but I def did some quality studying. I think it def contributed to my scoring well.

hi 🙂

I think your referring to my sticky and I can tell you right now, that was just a guideline of how to do thinks ESSPECIALLY if you don't have any work or school (meaning you sit home all day and do nothing but prepare for the DAT)

In your case, thats obviously different, you have school, homework, exams, etc etc, you CLEARLY will not be able to complete that 8-week schedule. I think spending 2-3 days completing 1 day worth of work is pretty good (for someone with your kind of schedule). So don't feel bad. Spending 3-4 hours on 1 biology chapter (as a 2nd reading) is great, it means ur learning EVERYTHING in that chapter.

Good luck to ya and keep up the good work 👍
