i started studying for orgchem. ive lost so much time. i shouldve done it long time ago. anyway, i listened most of the lectures from my school, except i'll have to listen again on the stereochemistry and on the nmr/techniques. but i today started doing exercises in the E/K orgchem book. Some of the questions seem so silly, but some i actually get wrong, it makes me mad. I havent done the 30minute test yet, im only doing the subsections, so far only did for lecture2. And i became tired very quickly.
I think i'll go to the beach tomorrow, if it doesnt rain, and try to do all these exercises there. I'll be going to sandy hook,nj and it would be cool if anybody joined me. Whenever i come there i am always the guy sitting under a sun umbrella.
I also feel that once im done with orgchem, i should review from my college courses on cell metabolism and on physiology. Since we had lecture recordings and notes, i could listen to those from an mp3 player(need to buy that). But some topics like evolution and plants we didnt cover, so it will be a pain to read on all that🙁 And i'll be completely screwed by the general chem, since i dont have any notes or lecture recordings for that. And im trying to review all of this stuff before august, so that when i come to school, i'll just concentrate on my school work and start doing practice tests throughout the school year, so i could do really well on the test in may. but now im afraid, ive accomplished so so little this summer🙁

I think it's normal for everyone to feel overwhelmed when they begin. Don't worry about all sections at once. Take it one step at a time and you'll do fine. I know it's easier said than done. Just make a realistic daily study schedule and try and stick to it...no big deal if you stray a day here or there...and just try to get as much as you can in. In a month, you should be completely ready to go for your practice tests. Just relax and know that most of us went through the same feelings.

Good luck :luck: .

Thank you. But i did so little work!!

well then i think you should work harder.

i did very little today. i hope i'll do some studying after eating dinner. all this studying looks scary, afraid to fail.

don't kill yourself reading old textbooks. Study the kaplan bluebook through and through and take DAT practice exams. You will retain more of the pertinent information

what does the bluebook look like? I'm stuyding Kaplan review book right now. I dont know if that is the one. There're so much materials to study!!! I feel so overwhelming.

Kaplan "blue" book is the Review Notes book. The good thing about that book is that they only put in the meat of information and take out all the crap that is commonly found in textbooks. So I'd just read that. And do all the review questions at the end of each chapter, dont skip those.

damn this test is pathetic. mcat is all right, of course the orgchem questions there are watered down compared to what we have to do in school, but there is a time limit, and also you forget some details if you took it a long time ago. so it is fair. but i just opened the barrons book to see if in the outline there is biochem, and not only that, but there arent even any reactions. do they really ask questions like this: what is the most stable radical; what is the strongest acid; which of these is not an oxidizing agent. what about condensation reactions and stuff like that??
