Hey guys- I was wondering of you had any suggestion for studying for the o-chem on the MCAT. How much memorization is needed? Is it more important to just understand what is happening or to actually know every synthesis and rxn for all of the groups. It seems overwhelming. I would take a course but I'm not going to have enough money to do so. Please help. 🙁

you need to buy an MCAT review book and learn the stuff covered in the review book.

it is not memorizing every rxn like for Ochem class, but it is knowing some of the major ones, recognizing others when they are explained in a passage and also knowing how the func groups will react. You must also know all the sterioisomer stuff, NMR, spectroscopy, nomenclature, etc.
