Hey SDN, I wanted to get your opinion on this.
I'll start off by saying that my goal is to get a 25 AA/TS on my DAT. I know this may seem high but I know I can do it. I have been seriously studying for about a month and a half and I have the majority of my studying done for except for a few Biology sections (immune system/endocrine system/taxa/ecology) which my friends tell me I will never feel ready for. School starts in a week and ends December 16th. Because I have most of my studying done would it be unwise to set it aside until December? The only thing that really worries me are the changes in 2015. If I take it at the end of January this will technically be the new Bio section right?

My schedule for the Fall:
Microbiology I
Biochemistry I
Biostatistics (supposedly easy at my school)
Intro to Accounting (because I want to)
Physics II
Physics Lab II
Total: 16 hrs

My bootcamp scores have been decent, but not where I want them to be. QVault is the same way.
I'm averaging:
Bio ~ 21
GChem ~ 25+ (I'm a TA for GChem)
OChem ~ 21-26
PAT ~ 20-21
RC ~ not started
QR ~ not started

The other option would be to take the DAT in late September but I have been advised not to by my fellow pre-dent friends to not do this as this is the first round of tests at my university. We usually have 4-5 tests within 2 weeks and then 2-3 weeks of nothing. I will be applying for the class of 2020 (so in 1 year).
Also I could just suck it up and take it September 1st. :arghh:

If I took it in the fall, I would probably start to forget things I was feeling confident on because of school...

If it was me id just suck it up and take it September 1

But everyone is different!

Yea take it now, that way you aren't dealing with a bunch of other crap too. I mean, its doable. My friend studied all semester and then took the MCAT 2 weeks after school ended. But I wouldn't recommend it, it's just added stress for nothing. Get your studying done and take it now while you are completely focused on the DAT because once the semester starts, you need to make room for physics and microbio.
  1. Be a man and take it now so you don't lose your mind during the semester.
  2. Taking it during or after the semester when your brain is fried from finals.
