Studying for the DAT w/o taking ANY pre reqs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is it possible? Can I basically teach myself the material?

Can you be self-taught Chemistry, Organic, and Biology? Yes.

The real question is do you feel it's necessary to put yourself at such a disadvantage? Most people here will say "No".

Definitely NO, why? because it would take you months of studying at least a year, we are talking about 2 years of college worth of material.
To Enso: parchame ghashangie!

It would be very hard.
Would require about 4 solid months studying IMO and that is only if you are very quick.
Gchem would be easy IMO. o-chem would require time and you would have to study a long time to truly understand all the concepts.
Biology would be extremely difficult if you did not take AP Bio in school and know most of it ahead of time.

Some take the classes and still study that long.

It wouldn't make sense for you to take the DAT without taking the classes. You're going to have to take them anyways to get admitted into dental school, so I'd just wait until you finish up those classes before taking the DAT....

I would not recommend it. I am studying for DAT right now and believe me even after taking most of the classes I feel like I have forgotten everything.

***Trying to get together a DAT study group in the New Brunswick/East Brunswick NJ area***

message me so we can all work together.....

This idea is foolish and would be a waste of time considering that you will need those pre-reqs anyway in order to get into dental school.

Hello everyone, I am a senior in high school and am going to be going to a university come fall. I want to be a dentist, and am wondering if all the material on the DAT is taught throughout college in pre-req courses.

It's really up to you if you have the time, and are able to grasp all those concepts in each of those subjects. I do believe that gchem, ochem, and biology are pre-reqs for dental school, so you have to take them sooner or later which might help you out when your ready to study. Good luck!

Lol are you serious? Thats highly unrecommended in my professional opinion😀
Unless you're just so frikin self motivated to pull this off

Lets have a bet. I got $20 on 15AA

I disagree. The type of person to pull something like this off would get a 25+ AA. This assuming he/she knows what he/she is doing. 😀
