I think its obvious that SDNers study alot. I'm looking for suggestions for a desk lamp. The one I have now is short and makes a bad glare. It also heats up my desk. Any ideas for a lamp that will cover a nice area and not be as hot?
The Ott-Lite Vision Saver lamps are nice. They put out a light that's pretty close to sunlight. It takes a bit of getting used to in the dead of night, but they're pretty low heat and glare is minimal. The downside is that they're kind of pricey - desk lamps run $80+. Replacement bulbs are $20+ depending on the lamp.
Just don't do what i did. I bought the one that takes a 9 watt bulb, which can not be found anywhere at any price. So make sure that your replacement bulb is in the catalog of the store you buy it from.
I don't really use a lamp since I don't study at home (I go to Starbucks or Panera Bread for studying), but I find that Ikea stuff is usually the best.
Elongated. I found that they put out light over a larger area. The rounded ones tended to be more like spotlights to me - I imagine some people would like that.
Definitely check out Ebay - prices are about half. Since I can't find a replacement bulb, for my old one, I'll probably get a new onefrom Ebay.

Thanks! Thats what I was looking for, light over more area. Ebay does have 'em cheap, but depending on which one you are looking for, staples is not bad either.
This is the one I'm looking at @ Staples
I want to see it in person first
