Hey,

I was wondering about some studying method and tips. I'm getting pretty tired of losing my 100% on my tests when I get the answers right, but I always put stupid careless mistakes like leaving 1 Hydrogen out or something and bumping grade down to a low A. It's pretty important I make straight As and not A-'s.

What can I do to stop making STUPID errors and memorize quicker? I don't normally have issues memorizing, but I'd just like to memorize way faster.

I've been just working practice problems and looking at notes. Most of the time, it's right after class. On my genetics test, I made the mistake of putting a dumb sentence on the short-answer test about heritability of a complex trait...

Am I just one of those people that have to do things multiple times to get it right?

I think you're one of those people that just needs to lighten up. Seriously, A- is a bad thing? Were you brought up under a belt and extension cord? Making small errors that aren't significant is called being human. Keep doing what you're doing because you are doing fine.

Oh, I figured my background was a little more known. I already was partying too much during my 1st 2 years.

I need straight As to raise my GPA esp this semester (last chance at my scholarship) and live my dream. The beer and alcohol are pretty much gone for now. A- is a 3.7 with a B+ being 3.3. GPA is around is 3... with 60 more credit hours to go as in I have to kill this semester.

But careless errors have been my problem my whole life which is why I ask for advice...

Ah yeah, I have the same problem. I usually make those dumb mistakes because I misread the question or read the first half and assume the second half of the question. Some times I just go too fast.

Depending on the test type, I find it helpful to skim through and do the easy ones, then close my eyes and "nap" for 2 minutes, then go back and do the ones I skipped, take another "nap" and check over all my answers. I never leave tests early. If I have extra time, I'll just peruse my answers and make sure I answered the right question and didn't leave out small details.
