Studying Over Break

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did the WebPath renal pathology questions yesterday. I'll probably do another one today, one tomorrow and then listen to some Goljan audio that I wasn't able to get to in my last system. I may also re-read the First Aid chapters covering all the systems we've done so far. Nothing too crazy but I definitely want to use this time to my advantage. We're lucky in that we had our last exam yesterday and don't have any assignments at all over break, so I can literally do whatever I want study-wise, which almost never happens.

Right now I am doing UWorld Qs. Monday I may start reading FA along w/ corresponding Goljan chapters. After reading Goljan I hope to be able to eliminate chapters "not as helpful" for Step 1 studying so I will not waste precious time during my Step 1 study in May/June reading stuff that is not all that helpful.

FA to review year 1... low yield (relative to year 2 material) but dense... biochem is a bbbb to learn in FA. I want to start uworld but it's a waste of time time if you honestly feel like you don't remember any of the material. Also kind of a waste if you only do questions of stuff you learned within the last few weeks. Just my $0.02

I definitely understand what you are saying, but at the same time I feel it is important to use UWorld as a learning tool. If you are using a particular resource as a learning tool it is never a waste!!!

True some people learn better with doing questions but I prefer questions when I feel prepared, in order to see my weaknesses. Guess whatever works for you. My goal is to really feel comfortable with FA by the time spring break rolls around and do UWorld all spring break. Then incorporate other resources to get solid in those areas between first day back from spring break and last day of yr 2 (all the while doing questions during that period of time). Then a good 30 days of study.

I get my feelings/ego hurt getting a bunch of questions wrong (which is what would happen if I start now) haha. But like I said, to each their own.

I remember reading Rapid Review Path by Goljan, BRS Biochem, BRS Physio, and starting USMLERx around this point before Step 1. Also bought the new First Aid edition.

This is SDN bro everyone gets 280's here and matches into #1 derm programs
Haha qft.

I havent done anything over break yet till yesterday I read this thread and I started doing some kaplan qbank questions on stuff we alrdy learned this year. I also may read through some of the first aid sections we alrdy went through this year but thats about it. By no means am I really hardcore studying but I literally have zero to do all day and all my friends and family work during the day so doing questions for an hour or two and picking up a thing or two doesn't seem like it can hurt, only help.. even if only a little.
