Studying Tips for DAT

Hi. I was wondering what would be good DAT studying Tips and studying tools to use. I have read the forumns and DAT Destroyer seems to be favorable. What else is really good?

I would go with the following:

First Read through Kaplan Book a couple times. It is a very basic and easy to follow book. This will help you build a foundation.

Next Start getting more intense with the reading (making notes/flashcards if necessary). Kaplan will give you a good foundation of knowledge for Gen Chem and OChem, but the Biology in it seems to be pretty weak. For Biology I would use another book to supplement Kaplan with (I am using Schaum's and Princeton AP Review).

After you have gotten in the groove with these books and feel pretty comfortable with all of the concepts then you should begin the Destroyer. Don't just use Destroyer as a book of practice questions, but also use the solutions as a study tool by UNDERSTANDING why something is correct or incorrect. You will want to go through this a few times.

After you've done that I would go ahead and start taking practice tests (Achiever, Topscore, Crack DAT PAT). If you do that you should be set pretty well.

This is the method I have been using to study. I am just now starting my Topscore and Achiever tests. Ive been studying since the middle of June, so you should be able to do all of the above within a 2 month span!

Then after going throught the Schuam's book and dat destroyer go get topscore. If you don't have a good foundation in the basic sciences, i would go through the Kaplan before anything and then get everything that i said. Goodluck!!!!

and destroyer is like 150 i believe or more.

what is KSF Review?? As of now, Im reading through the Kaplan book...I left school in dec 05...so i have a lot ahead of me in terms of studying....any suggestions?👍

I took it. Basically I sat in the back of the classroom while my instructor blabbed on and on about very basic concepts the whole class. BIG waste of money. The one good thing about that class is the plethora of materials they give you. The subject tests have been a very beneficial study tool.

What were they teaching in class? Strategies or actually teaching?? I am actually wanting to take the class since Ive been out of school so long now....

i took the class too. The only somewhat useful strategies were for the PAT section. The othersections, they just read to us out of their lesson books, threw a tidbit of info here and there.... It was useless. If you read the blue book ahead of time, you knew the answers to all their questions.

The only good thing is the materials they give online. 6-7 tests, and more subject tests. That is all that was worthwhile IMO.
