hi!

i'm retaking my DATs in October (18 AA 18TS) and i'm starting to feel like i'm the only one who's trying to do this with a full course load...is there anyone else out there who's already taken it in the middle of the semester, or who plans on doing so? i need to know that this is possible

of course its completely possible. As long as the full coursework means taking easy A classes while you dedicate at least 2-3 hrs each day for studying and practice tests. You can do it all you need is couple points improvement from what you had before. Good luck

I took it during the school year and got the same scores as you. I took it at the end of the summer and got a 21 AA and 21 TS but my summer was actually more busy than the school year. I was working full time as a research assistant and planning a wedding and honeymoon that were just two weeks before my test date. It's completely possible if you really want it.

I am taking it on November! With 14-15 hours of class work. First time taking it!

I had initially planned to take it before the fall semester started. But it turns out I'm still not comfortable with my practice test scores, so I'm postponing it. I'm taking classes this fall too but I decided to move one of the hardest ones for the spring semester. I really not want to risk my DAT or having a bad semester because I don't have time to study for classes. I think you know what you are capable of handling. Best of lucks on your studies!!!

whew okay because i feel like people look at me like i'm crazy. i'm taking pretty much easy A classes except for anat/phys but that's supposed to help me with my dat right? the rest are calc, physics lab, and some blow off classes. and i'll definitely get in 2-3 hours per day, i don't have much else going on, i'm not working and backed out of some of my clubs for a semester haha. thanks for the advice!!! 🙂

I'm taking the DAT in late september with a few classes. Micro and vert. physiology. Those aren't blow-off classes, but I'm hoping they will help with studying...maybe. I took the DAT in June but got a AA 19, so I'm building on a base of studying I have already done. I'm throwing everything at it this time. Destroyer, Datqvault, Anki, Cliffs, topscore, achiever, CDP, lots more. eat, study, sleep, repeat til this thing is done!

lame bump but just want to say I am in a similar spot. 18 AA so I am retaking in mid-November. I will be taking three bio courses and that is it (bioinformatics/genomics, evolution, ecology). I think some of the stuff I learn there will be helpful for the exam too.

I have already been studying for the last three weeks (schools starts tomorrow) however I haven't been going hardcore because I don't want to burn myself out too early or forget what I studied. My goal is to spend 1 hour at the very minimum every single day no matter what, even if I have a mid term the next day. I can't make any fixed schedules because I NEVER stick to them but I know which days I will have the most free time and I will put in A LOT of work on those days. Basically Thursday evenings, almost all of Friday, and then the weekends will be the four days I can go super hard. The other three days I can live with 1-2 hours a day of studying. Personally I don't believe it's the # of hours you put in, it's how efficient you are with those hours. If I am forgetting something two days after just studying it then that was wasted effort.

hmm yeah, i was doing fine with studying efficiently till i had my first wave of exams last week--3 in one week and 2 quizzes. so i didnt look at my dat books for a week, ha. now i'm goin crazy, with my test date on the 22nd. i'm finishing up Chads again and really working on QR and PAT, i plan on doing destroyer twice in the next couple of weeks, and a practice exam every other day for the last week, does this sound even possible? any more advice would be sooo helpful right now. i don't want to push my test because i have another round of exams that first week of November.

Hey I started studying mid-late January and took it in March while taking a full course load and shadowing/volunteering. It's very possible to do well with some dedication and caffeine 🙂. If you want to chat about strategies, let me know.

yes please! can i PM you?

I just took it two weeks ago, and am currently in the middle of a semester of 20 credits. It's very doable, but may require some sleepless nights and never giving up on your goal!
