I know an upperclassmen who sold her DAT study materials with DAT destroyer and a kaplan book with practice exams online, and she claimed to have just used that and chad's videos to prepare, and she got a 21. we go to the same school and took the same courses.

Will I be okay without buying bootcamp? She said she didn't get it, and I bought that stuff from her for 120 so I saved a lot of money, and if I can get away without bootcamp I'd really prefer to do that.

How are you going to study for the PAT? Kaplan IMO isn't very good for it especially in the angle ranking. I'd also suggest practicing with bootcamp because you'll have mike's videos included in the price. And practicing a full length on a computer would be better.

option 1: buy bootcamp take everyone’s advice who has done significantly better than a 21 AA and astronomically increase your chances of getting into dental school
option 2: don’t buy bootcamp, risk an average DAT score and potentially lose out on ~200k in opportunity cost

If you think bootcamp is expensive, just wait.

Summary: buy BC

I used BC just as a test to see where I was at in score. It wasn't a "main tool" for me. There are other question banks out there that I think are similar level so you probably wouldn't suddenly get a bad score because you were missing bootcamp like the above OP is implying. A solid resource that I probably should have used more, but I wouldn't put it miles above other resources.

I will say that if fear you will get a score you're unhappy with and think "what if I used bootcamp", just buy bootcamp.

I wouldn't recommend this method of studying w/o Bootcamp. There's a reason why almost everyone in this forum agree that DAT Bootcamp is the best method for studying for this exam. Their scores truly reflect the resourcefulness of the Bootcamp software, but I also had the same thought prior to the purchase: How can I spend the least amount of money while effectively studying for this exam? Unfortunately, there's no right answer for preparing for this exam but, in my opinion, buying DAT Bootcamp is a must. Start with the free trial and you'll see why.

Remember your goal shouldn't just be getting into dental school. Using Bootcamp may help you improve your score to be competitive enough to get into your state dental school, thereby saving you thousands of dollars. Bootcamp may seem expensive now, but think of it like an investment. Your DAT scores matters, a lot.

Thank you guys! I'll get bootcamp then, sounds like it's pretty crucial. It seems like everyone agrees it's a worthwhile investment.
