I've always wondered...why do patients lie on their left when having a colonoscopy??

Yes koonafa that really is a stupid question. You are laid on your left side because we don't want to put pressure and cause scope trauma on your left dominant air filled brain (assuming you are right handed) which would normally float up from its midline position in uranus and hence prevent you from asking more stupid questions.
