What's the difference between cell biology and molecular biology? Or are they basically just two points on a single continuum?

In my opinion, molecular biology is the DNA/RNA/Protein, enzymes, etc. aspect of biology.

Cell biology is in terms of the whole cell, such as organelles, metabolism, etc.

Others might disagree.

i agree with treg. molecular bio also has a lot of gene engineering stuff in it.

Funny at my school our class was called........
Cellular Molecular Biology. No wonder we covered everything.... we were doing the work of 2 classes. And we covered everything you all spoke of above so I think you may be right in terms of catagorizing the descriptions.

Now I know why that class drained me of energy

Treg's right. Also, molecular biology overlaps quite a bit with genetics.

I have to agree with Amy. I took Cell Biology at my school and the text book was called molecular cell biology. The book covered everything discussed above, and them some. I think they are two points on the same line.
