hi,

thanks to everyone for all the great advice.

I was wondering. when i take the kaplan paper tests, i like to go from bio straight to ochem and then back to gchem. i find that i need more time in gchem because of all the calculations and it gives me confidence to know that i can use all the remaining time for that purpose.

someone mentioned that he didn't think that would be effective on the real thing because he said that i would have to mark each question and go back. this would take away valuable time if its the case.

? is my approach on the paper tests possible on the real thing? has anyone done it? any suggestions?

I think this can be done, but you have to realize that you can lose up to a minute of time. What you have to realize is that questions 41-70 are questions of gen chem. You do not have to mark these questions. Once you finish questions 71-100(o-chem) an option will appear, similar to that seen on topscore which allows you to type in the question you want to go to. In that "Go to" box type 41 and start working on question 41 and finish up the gchem section. As I mentioned before you may lose a minute or two, but i think it is very doable.

a friend mentioned that, at least in the reading section, if a tester did not mark the question for review, he/she could not go back.

this was second hand. any validity to that info?

This the biggest pile of garbage I have ever heard. With that logic, you cannot even go back and recheck your answers.

The GChem on the real DAT has minimal calculations and doesn't require any more time than the other sections if you know the concepts. Try not to focus so much on methods of taking the test, instead, work on getting better at the actual test material. I've gotta agree with croco on this one - that logic is garbage.
