I finished filling out the 2018 AMCAS application (with the exception of my PS which is in reviewers' hands at the moment). I'm prepared to submit on the first day, but I also just submitted a first author publication to a journal.
So, my question is, should I submit on day one and send an update letter to some schools (my top three schools do not accept updates pre-II) or should I hold off until July 1ish once my paper has been accepted to submit? I currently have 2 publications (3rd and 7th author) in low-mid tier journals. LizzyM ~68. Applying to 24 MD-only programs and two non-MSTP MD/PhD.

Thanks!

2 pubs vs. 3 pubs is not a big deal. In your W/A section, do you list both of your current publications in the same "experience"? If so, I would add the 3rd anticipated pub to the bottom of that description and say you've submitted first author blah blah. When you have an interview, let them know it was accepted to _____ journal. I wouldn't wait to submit your app for just one first author pub, especially if you're already listed as an author on a couple others.

Don't wait a whole month, applying sometime in June ensures you'll be one of the first applicants looked at
