Submitted today: now what?

Hi everbody,

Just submitted AADSAS today, though transcripts and LORs went out almost a month ago. I took the DAT two weeks ago and did well. When should I expect to hear from anyone? At this point in the game, will I see interviews before or after Dec. 1st? (trying to plan for flights and finals).

Stats:

Undergrad Ed: Int'l Studies, U of Washington, Seattle
Cumulative Undergrad. GPA: 3.43
Science Undergrad. GPA: 3.1

1st DAT: 20, 20, 20
2nd DAT: Academic, Science, PAT (if applicable)

Extracurricular/Research Activities: Pres. of frat, political lobbying, work as dental sterilization tech, hillel, etc. Research was only academic, no science.

Schools Applied: UofW, Creighton, Upenn, Temple, UPit, SUNY Baffalo, U of Louisville, UKentucky, USC, UOP, Marquette, and Arizona.

AADSAS Submitted Date: 10/4/4

Once you submit your information to AADSAS expect at least a month, maybe even longer depending on how far behind AADSAS is with applications, for your AADSAS information to reach the schools you applied to. At least this is what I was told from the admissions departments at some of the schools I have applied to.

As far as interviews go, it depends on the school and how long they have been doing interviews. For instance a buddy of mine just got an interview invite from Case and when he called to schedule an appointment they told him that Jan. 19 was the first available date. Another school, OHSU, is going to be sending out interview invites for dates between Oct. - Dec. according to their admissions dept. yesterday. So it just really depends on which schools you applied to.

I submitted to AADSAS on August 18th, and my application is going out Oct. 8. This is 7 weeks after I submitted! Yikes! I wouldn't hold your breath about getting invites before Dec 1. Too many applicants and AADSAS is too slow.

Hey, yeah, just like the previous poster said, expect to wait MINIMALLY 6 weeks after date of submission. The AADSAS customer service *manager* told me, at the current standing many folks are waiting 6, 7 weeks. I submitted 8/21/04 and is being sent 10/8/04 (almost 7 weeks!!). So that means your schools wont get it until around November ~20th. And it depends on the school. Hopefully you can get a January of February invite! good luck

I submitted mine early September... just found out that mine is about to be sent out... when I say 'about to be' that means in a couple of more weeks... I also found out that my application number is in the 5000's... minimum 6 weeks!

well I guess the one up-shot from my lateness is that interviews will likely not interfere with finals in December, and give me some time to save up the cash for the trips. hey thanks guys.

I *really* doubt it. Most schools have stacks of applications still to go through, and the interviews for the upcoming months will come from those.

Plus, you've got essentially 3 weeks of holidays (Thanksgiving & Christmas) to deal with before year end, which means 3 weeks that adcoms are typically shut down.

You'll still have to get secondaries before interviews, and those could still be 2-3 weeks away for you.
