Do you guys think this is a good idea? It's already been reviewed by my PI and labmates. I just want to get off these Case and Vandy waitlists.

you mean sending them the thesis, or just notifying them that you submitted it? I don't think that this alone is going to get you off the waitlist, but the fact that you took the time to write them a letter expressing interest might. I don't see how it can hurt.

Yup, that's what I mean.

I wouldn't bother actually including the thesis itself. They're not going to read it. Just write them saying it's complete, with the title and your main findings, and then talk about how you really want to go to their school.

Concur. And keep the letter to a single page MAX.

jlamacc, if you're ever in doubt about whether you should do something, imagine if *everyone* did what you were contemplating. No adcom wants to be inundated with hundreds of theses from applicants. :scared:

I was thinking about it more from the perspective of the person who would have to sift through them. Application research essays that give excruciating detail on obscure proteins and other topics that the reader knows nothing about are bad enough, but at least those are limited to a page or two, not dozens. 😛

so what about transcripts from this past semester? yes? no? depends?
