Does anyone know how to go about updating schools about fall grades? Is this something that is done through AMCAS or would I send out a letter/ unofficial transcript to schools that I am particularly interested in? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think anything is sent through AMCAS for an update. I think you should send a letter of why you are realllllly interested in the school, why it's a good fit for you and an official transcript with your fall grades.

Good luck!

Do we have to send out grades to schools? I am not doing too well in my classes, due to lack of motivation. I think sending my grades in will actually be detrimental to my application.

No, you don't. Generally, you send your grades to the school if you have something to prove about your GPA (maybe your first two years were poor, your next two showed an upwards trend, and this fall continues it). If your GPA is solid, there's no need.

can it be an unofficial transcript?? It costs 5 dollars here per official transcript

What about to schools we've been accepted to? They want to know how our schooling is going, but do they just want a final official transcript before matriculation, or do they want our fall grades soon?

Has anyone ever done this before?

For example, you are a senior in college applying this year. You get grades back from first quarter or semester. How do you submit them to the school? Do they have to get AMCAS verified? If you are waitlisted at a school, what is the protocol for sending them new grades?

NYMC specifically asked me to submit grades... meaning as far as I can tell... I will either be rejected or placed on an indefinite hold if I don't. I'm not submitting, regardless.

However, they said I should email them the grades and then submit an official transcript to them in addition.

You could send them an update letter/email and include the new grades. If there's some sort of grade report that you can submit, even if it's not an official transcript, that would be better. I printed my summer quarter grades from my grad school's website (Blackboard), scanned it, and emailed it to the admissions offices of all the schools I applied to...they all said "thanks for the update, we'll add it to your file"

I think an official transcript before matriculation will do, but this might differ from school to school, so maybe just call and ask.
