Ok my original plan was to take the MCAT on 5/6, get my scores the first week AMCAS opens and submit. However when I tried signing up, it looks like all seats in my state were taken. There is a slot on 6/2 that is pretty close to my house, but I wont get my scores till the beginning of July. My other option is to travel to another state and take it 5/6, but I dunno if submitting a month earlier is going to be that big of a factor. What do you think?

Not worth it. Crush the MCAT - that is all that matters since you'd still be submitting early enough.

If all your ducks are in a line, the difference seems negligible to me. Take the test where your comfortable, and sounds like 6/2 would definitely allow you to be in the zone as your close to home.

Take it 6/2. You can submit AMCAS with just 1 school so that you get verified, then when you get your MCAT score you can submit to more schools. The time difference would then be negligible because AMCAS doesn't get released to schools until July anyway (not sure of exact date this year, I think it was July 1 this past year).

A TON of people drop their spots closer to the test date, you can definitely get the date you want. I would study for 5/6.

This happened to me in September. A spot in my city opened up two weeks before the exam. Keep checking!
