Submitting applications before DAT?

Hi!
I am planning to apply this cycle and I have scheduled to take the DAT on July 31st. I know it would be more ideal to take it earlier, but I want the time to study. I understand that I can submit my application before taking the DAT so my GPA can be verified beforehand.

My question is: should I apply just to one school in like mid-June just so AADSAS can start to verify my GPA and what not? And then after the DAT I select more schools to send my application to that closely matches my DAT score? Would I be at a disadvantage to the schools that I selected after taking the DAT? Or would I be better off just submitting my application to all of the schools at once in June before taking the DAT...

Oh, and since I plan on submitting my application before taking the DAT, do I have to do anything after taking the DAT or will the testing center send in my score and take care of that for me?

Why can't you just select all schools that you plan to apply to and submit for GPA verification? Then, have your DAT scores sent in later. Also, I believe that submission of your scores is handled electronically. Just be sure to select all schools when filling out your DAT application.

Yea, that’s what I planned on doing at first. But my concern is that what if I apply to all these schools that I think I’ll be competitive at and then turns out I didn’t do too well on the DAT? I feel like I could possibly save money by just sending in one just for verification and adding the rest of the schools after the DAT. But I’m not sure if dental school apps work this way or if it’s even a good idea to do it this way...

And yes I selected every school on the DAT application because it was free, so why not!

Maybe check the AADSAS guide to see if there is a way to add schools later. I am not sure on that. Maybe someone who has already applied or did something similar has better advice 🙂 good luck!

Other than you submitting farther away from June 5th, no.
