Ok so I've been working on my application and have almost everything done but one of my letter writers is in Ireland on vacation and can not submit my letter until she gets back on June 9th. Will submitting my application then (June 9th) put me at a disadvantage? Or can I submit my application and add her letter later? I'm also taking the MCAT on June 17th so my scores will also be coming later.

Letters generally don't need to be submitted until secondaries. So you don't have to submit them with you primary on June 1st.

Your best bet is to submit everything you've got for your primary as soon as you can so AMCAS can verify your GPA and info.

Yes, if you don't get your AMCAS submitted as soon as the first day, most schools won't even consider you and just reject you without looking at your app. You might as well just quit now and re-apply next year :meanie:.

Seriously though, you're fine. Just submit it now, you are free to add more letters to your application whenever you want. And even if you wait a bit, you won't be at any major disadvantage. I've seen people who didn't submit AMCAS until July or August and still got multiple acceptances.

I had a similar LOR issue and submitted my app on like 13th or something. Worked out fine for me I think 🙂

ha, I cant believe that June 1 is just a few days from now.
It seems to be that June 1, 2009 was just like yesterday.

I'm glad that my medical school application cycle has overed, and good luck to you guys, the 15'ers!:luck:

Should we wait until all our transcripts are in before we submit? 2/3 of my transcripts are in, but I think the 3rd might get there late next week. Is it better to wait until it's in, or just submit on June 1st?

This.

OP, submitting the app before August is generally considered early around SDN.

Definitely agree with letters not being needed until secondaries, though you should try to get them in asap in case you have a slow letter writer.

I think you can submit it if all your transcripts aren't in, but it will not be verified. I'm currently having a problem with this because I (unfortunately) went to a school for 1 semester that has a serious problem sending transcripts.

I have paid for 4 transcript requests to AMCAS since May 4th from them, and still they haven't sent it (or claim they have, but AMCAS never received it). I have a hard time believing all 4 were lost in the mail when my other 3 transcripts from other schools made it with time to spare. I'm to the point now that I don't know what to do, as I spent so much time preparing to submit and be verified June 1st and now I can't. I'm starting to worry they will never send it, no matter how much I pay, or how many times I request it.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. In the end, you'll be fine submitting without letters 🙂
