My MCAT is on July 2 and my practice exam scores are close to my target score, so I'm not worried about submitting my app before I get my scores back on Aug 6. I'm still editing my PS and work/activities on AMCAS and ideally wanted to have my app submitted sometime this week so I could be verified before my scores come in. I haven't had much time to work on it though because of studying and was wondering if submitting it around July 4-5 would result in getting verified really late?

Last year, people who submitted July 4th were verified 8/9

Add on an extra 6 days back log due to the delay this year, + an extra 1-2 for the increasing apps each year, and your looking to get verified around 8/17.

If you pre-write all secondaries you will be average to average/late (some schools take a few weeks to send secondaries, but most do them within the first few days of verification). Still worth applying, but make sure you pre-write everything otherwise you can easily fall in the late zone!

Try to finish the app and submit ASAP if you want to apply this season. Waiting until July will put you being verified by mid August. A few people may have already interviewed by the time you would be verified. That isn't exactly what you want.

Submit now (to one school), be verified by the time your scores come back. Add more schools then and be complete two-three weeks sooner than waiting to submit.

He hasn't finished his app no? Also, he's in his final sprint to taking his MCAT so he's probably super busy

OP said he is happy with his score. If you? I would study MCAT by day to just maintain the score and work AMCAS by night. Stay up late a few nights to finish it by Monday or Tuesday.

I assume the OP has casually worked on the app in the few months leading up to submission so doesn't need to do a mad dash to the end. Just rework what needs to be done and have someone look it over.

Ugh... so if my transcripts were mailed out on June 10th, are you saying this puts me in the average/late average group? I really, really hope this is not the case. They still haven't been marked as received yet.

Edit that I submitted at 10:30 on the first day

It doesn't matter that you submitted on the first day if they didn't have your transcripts.

You will be in the early-average group range (closer to early though).

I submitted 7/2 last year and was verified 8/8. With a borderline application it wasn't the best move. But hey, 11 months later I got into my top realistic school... so it all worked out?

I'm planning on pre-writing secondaries regardless but mid-August sounds pretty late. I want to be verified before I get my MCAT scores back, so I'll probably just find some time to work on getting it in this week.

If you get your scores back August 6th, your primary will basically be complete at schools on August 6th.

It's not super late, but you'll be complete a month later than the people that were verified by the initial AMCAS data submission.

Thank you! So, Should I panic?

There's nothing else you can do about it so don't worry. This is your reality. Spend the extra time working on perfecting secondaries to make them really stand out.

This, IF you pre-write secondaries, you should be about average with a few apps being slightly late (the random schools that take awhile to send out secondaries).

A well written app and well written secondaries will negate this though, and honestly, your not that late- so long as as your apps are complete all in August, your good, thats one month earlier than my earliest secondary apps last year, and I still got 4 II (but from like 36 schools, and they were all at the end)

Hooray for waiting another week for spring term grades. Anyone else with me?
