I've been working on a project of my own design without any input from a faculty member. I was planning on presenting it to a research group I work with for feedback, but haven't got around to it yet. I just discovered an upcoming conference that it appropriate for my work, but the deadline is in a few days. I think the turn around time to get someone from my group to be senior author on an abstract would take longer than the abstract deadline. Would it be appropriate to submit an abstract without any senior author on the project?

The project does not involve any patient data and its in a subject that I've done work on in the past, so it at least passes the eyeball test. And lets be real, the level of scientific rigor needed for an abstract submission is low. The conference is pretty large and I don't expect it to receive a ton of scrutiny in the peer-review process. The design of the project is 100% my own. I had a friend help out on some of the data collection, so it would only be the two of us on the abstract. I'm eager to submit now vs waiting in order squeeze out a last couple of lines on my CV before ERAS. Thanks for any input.

DId you check with the conference requirements? Many specialty conferences require at least one author to be a practicing physician in the field in which the conference is on. For other conferences, it still would look strange without a senior author on there. Usually it doesn't take long to scrutinize an abstract - it may help to reach out to someone for that.
