As I've been gathering info on the various subspecialties, I keep reading that the personality types of gyn/onc vs MFM vs REI vs general OB are vastly different. Can anyone share their experiences on this and elaborate some more? Thanks.

Since nobody has responded, I'll give an example of something I've come across. For instance, gyn oncs are known for having very big hearts and being especially compassionate towards their patients (and this is not to say that other specialists don't have these qualities, just noting what seems to be the trend in a particular field). My intention isn't for this thread to become an offensive 'people in this specialty are better because" type of thread. People's personalities aren't good/bad per se, just different, and physicians tend to choose fields where their personality fits. It would be great to hear more details from residents and others in the field, since you have a broader view of the various subspecialties than we have as med students.
