For those of you who had success with the DAT Destroyer, what do you feel is the best way to use it?

Did you do a couple of problems at a time, or rather a whole section at a time?

I've read that people have gone through it a couple of times, did you find this helpful or ineffective?

Thanks!

I loved the destroyer for the sciences. I did pretty well on them. For the bio, the information is all great but it isn't organized so well. I went through Cliff's bio first just to get orientated.

In general I would try and answer 15 questions at a time and wrote down my answers on an index card. The ones I wasn't sure about I highlighted. This way I spent more time studying the ones I didn't know and didn't waste time going over the ones I knew already.

I dedicated a day for each section for about 2 weeks. The closer i got to test day, the easier the studying got. Eventually I could get through the material in two days (Bio & Math one day, then Orgo & Chem the next) 🙂

I always did a section at a time. You should be looking up everything in a question you get wrong in one of your books or online. That in itself will take longer than actully doing the section but you'll learn a lot.

So does that mean you went through the sections more than once?

The destroyer is a lot of material....I don't think going through it once is enough. Unless you have a photographic memory or already know all the material to a good extent (don't require additonal reading).

Personally, I went through it so many times I lost count. Of course, the Destroyer was my main source for the sciences...so, yeah, it was my main guide.

I definetely think I will go through it more than once but the reason I've been asking about it is because it seems like the second time through it you would be able to just remember the answers.

poc91nc...how were you able to make your additional times through it effective? Did you space them out a couple days? Make notecards?

Thanks for all the feedback everyone!!!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up getting on your sciecnes for the DAT?

Bio 23/Gchem 21/ Ochem 22

I'll just say that Destroyer helped me most for the sciences....just supplemented Bio with Cliffs, Campbells, and an undergraduate Anatomy and Physiology book.

Well for one...repetitions never hurt. You always overlook things the first time. Going over it constantly makes sure you don't overlook anything.

Another thing is...gchem and ochem is all about practice. The material is not learned simply by passively reading it. Tackle the problems, then read. Your readings will be much more focused.

I also used note cards for anything I had trouble memorizing. That goes for all science sections. I'm kinda big on memorization. What good is understanding something if you forget it right?

Hope that helps as a general guideline.
