for the new schools that were on your list the second time. did you mention how not getting in the first time has motivated you even more or anything of that sort? i'm afraid that for these schools, they will down on me for not applying to them the first time and that this time i'm just trying to be cautious. i know that it'll be useful for the schools that i applied to in the first cycle, but not sure whether or not for the new schools this time around. thanks

Unless you applied to a particular school twice in a row, schools don't even know that you are a reapplicant. I applied twice and got into a school that I didn't apply to the first time. I wouldn't even mention that you are applying again. It doesn't really make a difference. You could mention how you have improved your app during the year that you had off if you wanted to. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

On the contrary, I made a point to convey to adcoms that I was a reapplicant. Of course, I also made sure to convey HOW I was a BETTER candidate for medical school. I think it can work to your benefit to let adcoms know you are a reapplicant to medical school in general(not necessarily a reapplicant to one particular school but just someone who is running the gauntlet again to try and get in). I think it can demonstrate your determination and perseverance as long as you have the IMPROVED QUALIFICATIONS to back it up.

As far as schools looking down on you for not applying to them the first time...thats bull...2 of my 3 accepts were at schools I did not apply to the first time. And yes, Northwestern was one of them(Dartmouth was the other).
