Any one get an interview and accepted or just interviewed at any medical schools with below average stats such as gpa's below a 3.5 with a MCAT under 34??? This ONLY applies to applicants who have had this experience. This is NOT INTENDED for pre-med students that haven't applied yet or just applied but haven't received an interview invite. I obviously am going to try really hard to get a 3.5 or greater for my post-bacc and above a 30 MCAT, hopefully a 34 or better. Thanks so much : )

Underdog with MCAT under 34? You realize that the average matriculant has an MCAT of 31.1, right?

Not that it's impossible, but it is one thing to say about getting a 35; it's another thing to actually get. A 35 is ~90th percentile IIRC, so good luck and work hard and I'm sure you can do it.

On SDN everyone seems to have a 3.7+ coupled with a 35+ but this is very unlikely in real life. Most people will score between a 26-28 and others who study really hard can get a 31-33 but breaking the 34+ barrier is quite difficult. As for GPA it really is dependent on your school. At some schools a 3.5 is stellar and ADCom's do take this into consideration

A 3.5/30-34 qualifies as an "underdog?" LOL this site makes me laugh.

You realize a 33 is 90th% and 35 is 95th%, right? Above a 34 is insanely good for the applicant pool!

EDIT: This is directed at the OP, just using 0kazak's statement as a lead in.

I think the only way you could be more of an underdog is if you were urm. Then all the cards are just stacked against you.

Yeah, a URM with a GPA of 3.4 and an MCAT of 33 would struggle to get into most DO schools

There is any underdog thread that I am subscribed to on SDN (I don't have the link--search underdog).
In this case an underdog is someone who scores below a 30.

Yeah, it's in pre-osteo I think. We occasionally start underdog threads in pre-allo, but they all end up turning into "OMG, I HAVE A 3.6/32, I AM SUCH AN UNDERDOG!"

OP although SDN is very helpful sometimes, don't let the neurotic posters get you down. You will have a great chance.🙂
