Okay, so I've been searching to find particular answers but not sure whether what I find is geared toward what I need, so I thought I'd just ask.

First, I'm currently in my second semester of senior year undergrad and my cum gpa is around a 2.8 but there is a distinct upward trend with my first semester of senior year being a 3.8 or something like that, and I'm hoping to finish strong my last semester with a 4.0.

I actually want to go to dental school and I know there are SMPs and Post-Baccs that fit in with this. My question is in regards to the MCAT/DAT. I know many post-baccs and SMPs say they will help you prepare for the MCAT/DAT, if that is so, does that mean you don't have to take the MCAT/DAT for admission into their program? I'm hoping to apply for dental school entrance 2009 which means I'd have to start applying this summer.

Are there any SMPs/Post-Baccs that will accept you without an MCAT/DAT right away? I'm not sure if I'm understanding all this correctly...

Also, I've taken most of my science courses so I'm not sure I'd be able to even get INTO a Post-Bacc program. I know UConn has post bacc programs for those who want to enhance their science record but I heard that program is one of the most competative ones...is there a post-bacc or SMP that would accept me with a cum 2.9-3.0 and accept me without a MCAT/DAT?

Am I just completely wrong about all of this? 😕

Anyone? Any response would be greatly appreciated! 😳

Seriously, after 13 minutes you feel neglected? This isn't a high traffic forum.

You're not eligible for most structured premed postbacs because you've already taken the prereqs. But you can take unstructured postbac classes almost anywhere, or do a 2nd bachelors.

You might find an SMP who will take you with a 2.8 (such as EVMS) but yes, they want MCAT scores. I would assume they'll take DAT. SMPs that include MCAT prep are aiming at retakes. Here's a list: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=489913

I'm not dental so I can't really advise you further. Best of luck to you.

I think Penn Special Sciences allows pre-dental students in without the DAT, but they look at SAT scores instead. I'm not sure if this is the kind of program you're looking for, because I don't think SS is considered an SMP...but it may be worth looking into. 🙂

I didn't feel neglected, I just wanted to bump the topic. Thanks for the information.

Thanks! Yeah, I was considering that 🙂
