Haha, you said waking up at seven. Try waking up at 4 am - 5am for much of third year and 5-6am for all of residency. Its 5 am right now by the way.

this puts me in a bad dilemma... i stay up till 4-5 anyway....but i guess i have to somehow train myself to sleep earlier....

this is possible right? prolly just takes a while to change a sleeping schedule tho.....

If you're usually a late night person like I am, it's really hard to fully get used to it, but you deal with it. I tend to stay up real late on days that I have the next day off (2-3am) and its brutal when I get back to work because I have a hard time sleeping the night before. I've dealt with it ok. On harder rotations and in specialties with worse hours (surgery, medicine), you're so tired when you get home at 8pm that you fall asleep with no problem. Then you sacrifice the other aspects of life. Thank god I loved radiology! Much more humane.

You guys could try a brisk round in the military, first. When you're done you'll be thrilled to be allowed to sleep in until 5am - that's serious luxury, right there!

Plus if you're night owls you'll do well standing watch until 2am, then getting up at 4.

Of the above mentioned I think I can let go of sleep the easiest.

I mean, why do we need to sleep anymore? We wont be dreaming of going to med school, we'll be in med school!
