Hi, I'm a medical student in Vietnam, year 3 and I want to take the USMLE test next year. So it's pretty hard for me to find good books to prepare for the test. Can anyone who has experience of passing this test recommend 1 or 2 best books for each subject, please. And then I will ask my friend order them for me.
Thanks for your help.

If you can wait till January, you should get the 2011 edition. You can pre-order it now but it won't be released until January 14th.

The other book I recommend is Rapid Review Pathology:

Thanks for your suggestions.
So you guys mean that I just focus on that 2 books for all subjects?
Are there any other books?

for the most part yes. Sometimes you may need to refer to other books for certain subjects. I think it depends on your strengths and weaknesses. If there's a particular subject you're weak in, you could try to use a separate review book for it. Here's my book list:

Does one First Aid book contain all subjects? I mean, could I buy that only book at first?
I've seen many threads say that they use also Goljian, Kaplan, Lippincott and High Yield. Are they good too?

@IMGUSMLEStep1 : have you taken the test yet? What iss your score? Are you IMG or AMG?

First Aid has all the subjects in it but it is organized by organ systems. Yes, some people use first aid as their only book. It really depends on how much of a background you have.

Yes I've taken the test and I'm an IMG. I haven't received my score back yet. There was a mixup with my documentation but they told me if all goes well I'll get my score back in a week or two.

Good luck!

What is the difference between Kaplan lecture notes and Kaplan Home Study Program and Kaplan MedEssential?
Which one is better?

First Aid + USMLEworld Qbank is what most people seem to use. Yes it's one book but it's dense, I'd be impressed if you managed to memorize everything in it. The Qbank is a must in my opinion.
