Can anybody suggest some study aids that you have found helpful in medical school besides the provided textbooks and PowerPoint presentations?

Did anybody use the pre-made anatomy flashcards? If so (and it was helpful), which ones.....Netter, Gray's?

Any suggested books? Prep for USMLE that you could start in first year?

Thanks so much 😉

I preferred Rohen's flashcards since they have actual cadaver pictures and the practical exam is on cadavers.
Other than that I used the iFlash program for flashcards for other classes. It's much faster than writing them out by hand and you can add pictures to both sides (great for visual learners).
I'm really a flashcard person, so that's what I've mostly used in this first semester.
I haven't done any USMLE stuff. I have a couple of biochem review books (BRS and goljans) because we take the biochem shelf in the beginning of Feb. But I haven't started looking at them yet.

I just downloaded iflash and I love it. Is there an option where you can study only the cards that you flagged??

Obviously this will change a lot depending on what subject you are talking about. Since you seem to be asking about anatomy I'll answer that. I used both Netter's and Rohen's flashcards. Netter's first to learn the relationships and then I would borrow Rohen's flashcards to test myself. Worked pretty well. (only thing those cards really don't cover that well I think is the pelvis/perineum)

When you have a deck open, on the right side there's the category space. If you hit the plus on the bottom, you can create a category, and then drop cards into it (kind of like a folder within your deck). When you hit study you can choose the category from a drop down menu and only study those cards. I think that's how it works - it's been a while since I've done it.

Netter's Flaschards are really good for anatomy. Really great to help learn structural relationships. I didn't find Rohen's necessary, but some people like it.

Thank you I found it... it works great!!!!

Rohen has flashcards? 😱
