An odd request: my father, who is a general practitioner, has got it in his head that he wants a textbook in interventional radiology for his bookshelf. He asked me to track down the best book, the one interventionalists would buy, and get it for him. Who knows whether he'll ever read it, but for the sake of this thread let's say that he will.

Is there a consensus "definitive" textbook for interventional radiology? In the absence of a definitive text, what are the major texts that I should be choosing from? My father mentioned to me that he would like a textbook that discusses all of the "latest and greatest" in procedures -- take that for what it's worth.

Thanks.

Am I asking the wrong group? Or maybe asking the wrong question?
I'm not sure where else to get advice on this except with you all.
Please share any suggestions you may have, or feel free to PM me
if you don't want to tell the whole world (though I can't imagine why
you wouldn't). Thanks again, and please help if you can.

Relatively speaking, this forum is very slow when it comes to people who are actually attendings or high up enough in radiology residencies to give this kind of advice.

Try looking in the stickied suggested reading list thread at the top of this forum.

If that doesn't get it for you, I'd suggest asking on Aunt Minnie's forums.

I think a good basic book on IR is Vascular and Interventional Radiology by Valji. It's last edition was 2006 which is fairly recent compared with the other books on IR. Although its not all encompasing, most people going into IR is familiar with it. The Requisites would be another book, but I think the most recent edition is from 2003.
