Hi everybody, I have few questions about my SUNY application.
I submitted everything by October this year, including my OAT scores. I had my interview this summer because I am an early decision applicant. Here is the problem,: At the time of my interview, I did not have that much experience on shadowing optometrists. So, they told me to shadow more doctors and submit a reaction paper to them. So I shadowed optometrists and handed in the reaction paper before school started.

I was supposed to get SUNY's response at the lastest this November since I applied early decision; but I still haven't gotten any letter. I called SUNY about my status, and they told me that they put my application on hold, and they will review it on Jan, or early Feb, and it is due to my limited experience with optometry.

So, what should I do? Feb is very late, and I need to answer back to other schools as well. Should I shadow some more optometrists over the winter break, and show them I'm dedicated?

If they said they put your application on hold because of your limited experience, then that may indicate that your reaction paper also seemed limited to them (though I am speculating). I would shadow more optometrists and maybe write an additional reaction letter (shadow in different modes of practice).

why would they say ur experience is still limited if you did exactly what they asked for... what optometrists and how many did u cite in ur essay that u submitted, were they specializing in anything?? i know they like VT so try to include one such OD in ur next reaction paper u submit! good luckkkk

I did exactly what they asked me to do, because they sent me a letter and instruct me what should be included in the letter. They also sent me a list of optometrist that I could shadow with; those optometrist were all from SUNY as well.

wow they gave you a list?! so did you see each and every optometrist on the list? how many were there?

There are about 20 optometrists on the list, but some of them were moved. But if you ask for shadowing, they usually will let you to stay. They are very professional!
