For school interviews, is it absolutely necessary to wear a suit? Also, does anyone know where I can find nice women's suits? All the suits I've seen at department stores like Macy's are very old-woman-y.

try express and the limited. I bought one from the limited because they ran out of my size at express... but they both look more 20s age style. 😉

I'm not really sure if it depends on the school or not, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary as long as you wear something professional. I only had one interview, I wore a suit but the other girl in my group didn't and we both got in. I got mine at JCPenney's in the juniors section. It was inexpensive too!

purchasing a suit was something i was wondering about as well.

i actually just bought a suit today from Ann Taylor Loft (my friend suggested). i guess it is pretty pricy ($225-but i got 20% off of that) but then again, i plan on wearing it to all my interviews and it's a good future investment i guess.

yeah, and i didn't see anything at Macy's. maybe bc the Macy's where i live is kinda gross and they never have anything i like anyhow.

good luck ! 🙂

PS. FEMALES...are you bringing a purse?! i would really like responses to this question because i'm wondering if i should go out and get black one since all of mine are colorful and probably not appropriate for the interview

i've been looking too!!
i think guess, bebes, express all have some really cute professional outfits. (but ...quite pricey indeed) i was looking on victorias secret website, they have really nice businessy clothing too. but ... we wont be able to try those on.

I went to Express because of their cute suits, but the prices were too high for me! (>120$ for a suit jacket). In the end, I was hoping to only have to use a couple of times, so it wasnt worth it for me....

So, I went to Macy's Junior department, not the suit section, and they had a bunch. It was also much cheaper. 🙂 I was quite pleased.

As for the purse question, I brought mine, and gave it to my mother during the actual interview. My purse has my life in it though 🙂

Hope this helps!

also try New York and Company- they have tons of colors to choose from.

just a word of advice (straight from my pre-optometry adivsor)- go with a nonblack suit (gray or blue) and a nonwhite shirt. EVERYONE in my interview was wearing black and white suits and you really do stand out if can dress professionally yet still display your personality a bit. I also carried in a small black purse.

i carried a black purse and it wasn't that big of a deal.

I would highly recommend wearing a suit and have it tailored to your size later on so that you are super comfortable in it and still look good- i wore mine to all the interviews and hey i dont think many of us will grow anytime soon so you can wear it in clinics and to later work interviews🙂

hmm everyone at my interviews wore suits so i highly recommend it- for girls do not worry about your purse or what not- i had my luggage with me lol and left it at the office there so no worries about it, just dont lug it around with you....

I would definitely wear a suit to the interview, and suits are usually pricey. I spent hours at Macys and Nordstroms, but the 200-300 price tags turned me off. Anyways, there happened to be a Ross nearby, and I ended up buying 3 suits all for $200. i bought a few brands that I was familiar with from macys, so it was a pretty good deal .... 😉

AMEN!!! If I have to see one more interviewee with a black suit on I might just have to... nevermind.

I wore my black pant suit from the Limited (haha) with a white button-up (even more hahahahaha), but I wore a really nice sweater from New York & Company with it. I wore my jacket into the school and took it off once I got situated. I looked professional, but my sweater was a pretty pink color that stood out from the other black suits during my interview.
