I've recently been accepted into the summer@brown program and I was curious as to see if anyone else has been to any brown summer programs before. I believe I got into the So You Think You Want To Be A Doctor? course. Any type of feedback is appreciated 🙂
I've also been told its a great course as well as the program.

I actually did the FOCUS program at Brown in 1996. (I'm old.) I had friends in the "So you think you want to be a doctor" course and they loved it. (I was taking an econ course.) Anyway, it's a really fun time. Back then they had day trips on the weekends around the northeast. I even met a friend I keep in touch with to this day. I'd definitely say go for it!

I am about 90% certain that I am going to apply to the summer@brown program this summer and want to do the So You Want to be a Doctor course, too. I have a friend who did this program last year, and loved it. She said it was a great experience...but I believe she did a biotech course, which would also be very interesting.

I got into the summer at Brown program too, but I don't know if I'm in Exploring Medicine, or So What's Up Doc(I've gotten an acceptance e-mail, but no letter yet, likely due to all the snow lately).

I wanted to apply to So You Think You Want to Be A Doctor?. It sounded like a perfect match, but it was 3 weeks, and the hospitals where I live require you to work all but 2 weeks of the summer (I'm going to apply to volunteer), so I had to go for a shorter program.

ETA: I just got my packet, and I'm in the Exploring Medicine program, for July 13-17.

That sounds like a more brief version of the so you think you want to be a doctor course. It seems really interesting, I don't think that one was up when I applied though or else it would've been one of my alternate choices.

i took the course many years ago in high school, later came to brown for college/med school, and then served as a TA for the course

i'm obviously biased, but i think it is an awesome experience

Do any of you guys know how quickly these courses fill up? I'm still trying to figure out what I am going to do this summer and am a little worried about certain courses at the program running out of open spots...

Hee, I just found that program, and am definitely applying- provided they're not filled up before I can the money for the application! It sounds very interesting though, I'm know I'm excited about it.

does anyone know if there are any other types of scholarships that are available for this program besides the deans scholarship?

I know I am too late for this thread. I am a 10th grader and planning to apply for this Fall-2012 Brown online "So you want to be a doctor" 8 week course. Other than the course knowledge, does this course makes your resume any better?

Any +ve and -ves info on this course would be much appreciated.
