I'm planning on taking Organic Chemistry over the summer but after talking to my adviser, he strongly recommends I take the class anywhere but a community college. My friend goes to a community college and says the professors are really wonderful and are always available for help. Would it hurt my chances applying to MD schools if I take a class in community college?

Yes! Do not take your major sciences at community colleges. It does not look good.

It's better to take your science prerequisites at a four year university if you can. Taking one prerequisite at a JC is not the end of the world though, especially if you can justify it because of scheduling issues (switched major and now don't have enough time to take it during the regular year or something) or financial reasons.

I took both ochems at community college and got into a good school. You're only taking one. And if you're going to learn well while you're there, you'll have a better foundation for your MCAT.
