I have to take a general chemistry 2 class during the summer if I want to start orgo1 during fall of sophomore year. Does taking gen chem 2 during the summer raise a red flag to the admissions?

Doing bad in the class raises a red flag....

why would it raise a red flag?

I don't know, I thought all classes taken out of a 4-year university during an academic year (cc classes, summer class, etc...) were all not in favor of the admissions process.

I’m having the same dilemma right now with taking pre reqs next summer. I’ve definitely heard that taking courses outside of the academic year is not good.

Why would taking a prereq during the summer at a 4 year university not be good? If anything you're putting in much more work in 4-5 weeks than you would be during a semester.

Now if you're taking this class at a community college over the summer, it might look bad.

Does not look bad as long as you get A’s. Get A’s wherever you can.

Took Ochem I AND II + Lab in one 10 week summer, at a 4yr university. Got an A and A- and A in lab. No questions/issues. Just do well in the class. 🙂

Nobody cares if you take summer or fall/spring classes.
