Anyone else taking summer courses and finding it EXTREMELY difficult to get motivated? I've been procrastinating a paper all week that's due tomorrow cuz I get distracted every 5 min lol.

Ahhhhhhhhh!

yeah especially with the world cup 🙄

hire me as a slave-driver
I'll bring my own whip! 👍

ouch lol i can already feel the pain

Wimbledon not so much I just watch the highlights and the last game of Isner vs Mahut (i was cheering for your ga boy!)

/sigh Isner. I fell in love the second he hit his first ace. 😍

yes 100%, I find it so much more harder to stay on top of **** than during the year..plus it's summer so motivation is scarce

lucky! I still have two weeks...
woops, I meant 3 classdays left 🙁 But they're spread out over 2 weeks as well. What makes it so much worse is that obviously I'm not going to do any work for it until the night before/morning of/during class right before the quiz...

I once took summer classes in Ann Arbor and the hardest thing was getting down to work while it was still light outside.... those summer evenings in Ann Arbor are not conducive to studying. Can you find a windowless room somewhere?

I hear you. I often study in the Dana Building Commons, which is windowless. But even the thought of all the other students having fun laying outside and chilling on the Diag makes it hard to get anything done. 😛

i can't imagine motivating myself for a summer class. it just isn't right

That would be nice.

My 9am chem class is for two hours M-F along with 2.5 hour labs Mon, Tues, Thurs.
For everything else [i.e. potential free time] there is MasteringChemistry.

...shivers me timbers. :scared:

Yes. I am taking chem and a required phys ed class. The chem class is moving roughly 2-3 times faster than normal. Plus class time for both is like three hours each a day. Then I get home and have to study a bunch to keep up. I thought it would be cake to take one hard class in the summer but am finding that to not be the case. Plus, volunteering, work, etc. I need a real summer vacation. Also, to add to Liizzy M, over here in Seattle this time of year the sun does not set until real late. Last night I took a study break at about 10:00 to watch the sun set. Amazing, yet detrimental...

Cheers.

Summer chem sucks!

Oh me too. Taking Physics I and Calculus I for another 6 weeks, the joys of summer. Luckily, Calculus is fairly easy though I am struggling to keep up with doing Physics practice problems due to procrastination. Dear god, why does my room have such a large window... the sky, she is so blue.

i got physics 2 and stats i got class everyday until august from 8am-1120.....FTW...not

Ugh. Yes. I completely agree with you. I took a Calculus Course the summer before I started freshman year and it went so fast with so much material crammed. I will try to avoid summer classes in the future.

I'm taking 12 credits this summer. I just finished a 4 week econ course. Now I'm taking Chemistry 1A in the morning and physics 2 from 5:30-8 for 8 weeks. I'm also volunteering and working...so it sucks. I'm trying to study, but I go off track a lot 😀.

how many days a week? I feel like night classes are the worst

I am regretting taking as many credits as I did. Between school and work I'm not having any fun! Plus, I bought a four wheeler recently and don't have time to use it. I live in a super small town where it's legal to ride them on all the roads.... so I hear them riding down the street to my favorite trail.... nooooooooooooo funnnnnnnnnnn! I don't wanna studyyyyyyyyyyy anymore! lol. I've only gone fishing once this summer too. I also miss shopping! I am now an "online shopper."

getright- jeez, I'm not jealous of your class load! I took 14 credits, but honestly, chem is the only time consuming class. I took math, nutrition, medical terminology, and chem lol. I thought about taking physics instead of med term and nutrition, but oh so glad I didn't lol. Good luck, I hope you do well!! 🙂

haha for some reason im the opposite-- im much more productive when its sunny out. Of course being in LA its tempting to hit the beach, but i guess thats motivation to get as much done in the weekdays as possible

Hey man, I am in the same boat as you are.

This summer I am taking Gen. Chem 1 and Microbiology --- 8 credits overall. Plus I am working in a grocery store in weekends.

I know man, it feels like just laying in the bed and enjoy the summer.
But still you have to do what you got to do.
And in the end of the day, you will be proud & glad you did summer classes and aced it.

Trust Me

We can do it :luck:

I just took 2 difficult classes these last 6 weeks, and they made my life a living hell. Both classes were extremely fast paced and a lot of work. I took physics 1 and a writing course(the writing class gave me a 14 page paper every week, physics gave me like 36 problems a night for hw, and I had three hour physics lab twice a week). I just got my grades back for both classes, and I did well in both, so I guess in the end it was worth it. 🙂

That class is 4 nights a week 🙁. Chem is 5 days a week with labs on Mon/Wed.

Haha, thanks and good luck to you.

i actually like summer classes, i can concentrate harder knowing that all this will be over soon. also i go to a 15k people campus, its practically dead in the summers, which makes me happy since i can't stand mass of people.
