Summer Classes/Academic Update Question

Hey all,

So I went ahead and submitted to PTCAS last week, and I am currently enrolled in summer classes. I know I cannot update the grades until the Academic Update in December (I think, right?) but can I send the transcript to PTCAS once I get my summer grades? And if so, will those transcripts be available to the PT schools? If not, can I send the summer transcripts directly to the school to be taken into consideration? thanks!

As I understood last year, you can ONLY update grades during the academic update. You can send transcripts early as soon as classes are completed but they won't be officially calculated and verified until then (Dec). In my experience, my schools did not want the transcripts sent to them directly. They only want them after you have been accepted. My schools went off the PTCAS calculations. I was taking a bunch of summer classes so I waited until after summer grades dropped to submit my app to PTCAS. When are your summer classes done? Has your app been processed yet? I have no clue what the specific rules are but if this were me, I would call PTCAS to beg and plead not to process my app for a few more weeks and kick it back out again or something (no idea if they can actually do that). You could also try calling the schools directly. Some schools might be willing to work with you depending on how they do their admissions committee.

I'm in a similar situation. I'm took two summer classes through a local community college this summer, one of which is still going and doesn't end until August 8th. PTCAS is waiting for that transcript still and won't process until it is received so I'm just waiting for August 8th to send that in.

Awesome, I will see if they will wait to process it. Mine should be available around August 8th as well 🙂
These two summer classes bump my science GPA WAY up, and 6 of the 7 schools I applied to review applications/invite for interviews in fall so I really cannot wait until December...
