So I'm reading past topics on summer classes and how it would look really bad for someone like me to go from a top UG to a state school that isn't on its main campus, but I need to ask SDN because I'm worried that I'm in a bad spot now.
Essentially, I need to take classes this summer so that I can graduate on time, otherwise it will be very difficult to find an alternative solution. One option that my university has given me the OK is to take a Molecular Bio class that counts for my major and would help let me graduate on time. It's going to cost $300 for me to take the course here, where if I take the equivalent in my school it will cost $3000. So financially, there's a clear choice here. But I'm worried that going from a school ranked in the top 10 to taking summer classes ranked as a top 25 north regional college (from these statistics http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/regional-universities-north) will hurt my app. I can definitely explain my reasoning in interviews (very low summer income to support myself + needed to take summer classes to graduate + cheap classes) but I don't want this to hurt me before the interview stage.
Also, a side question that I was wondering: if I take an English course while studying abroad will that count towards pre-reqs?
