Registration for summer classes is going to open up soon and I'm trying to figure out what classes I should take. My adviser sucks and obviously there is no better place to receive great advice than SDN haha. No seriously, I want to take Chem 2 and Calc 1 in the summer but I don't know. I'm not good in math at all and was wondering if I should take it during fall semester instead. If I were to omit calculus, there is a great physics 1 professor during the summer. So should I....

Take Chem 2 and Calc 1 in the summer (I'm not good at math, I despise it but I would rather suffer for a month and a half then suffer for a whole semester.)

OR
Take Chem 2 and Physics 1 w/ good professors that have a good reputation and leave Calc for the fall semester.

Thank you fellow SDN pre-meds.

A lot of summer classes are accelerated from what I understand so if you're not a math guy then I would recommend not speeding up the class for you. That being said, ya gotta look at how much time you'll have during the summer vs. fall considering EC's, work, ladies, etc.

I agree. Even though you'll have the class for a longer period of time during the semester, it will give you more time between each topic to master and learn what you need. Classes during the summer give students very little chance between topics to practice, review, and master the material.

Question: are you planning on taking these 2 different 5 week sessions, both during a 5 week session or both during a 10week summer session?
I took a couple of math classes during summer and an ochem class over summer as well. Made "A"s in all of them and they were all 5 week sessions. It was a lot of work though. Summer classes are accelerated so you HAVE to stay on top of things, but profs tend to lighten the load a little over summer sessions. You also have less time to forget things. I would NOT recommend taking the classes at the same time if they are 5 week sessions (since they are all rigorous courses), but if they are 10 week sessions or 2 different 5 week sessions it is totally doable. Take the classes with the profs you know are good. The professor can make all the difference!

No they are 7 weeks long Classes I believe and at the same time. Yea I totally agree, professors make all the difference. I'm leaning more toward physics 1 and chem 2 option. They are both good professors and I can definitely take the load since I predict ill only work twice a week during the summer. Thanks for the feedback!
