Hey guys, I hope I posted this in the right spot!! I was wondering if most American medical schools accept courses taken in the summer? I took a physics and a english course in the summer way back in first year; i've also taken other courses throughout the summer but not prereqs, just classes to ensure I graduate on time. I'm really nervous because i've heard that summer courses don't count towards the GPA and i'm especially nervous because I took two prereqs in the summer before I heard about this!! Any help would be really appreciated!!!

Oh yeah! The physics and english classes were still the same amount of credits as they are in the school year.

I've heard that's true in Canada, but it is not true of US medical schools, where all post-high schools classes are included in your GPA calculation and are "accepted."

The only concern I'd have about the summer physics is that it may not have been sufficiently rigorous to prepare you well for the MCAT. Your score will prove the point one way or the other.

Mobius can you clarify please?

My understand is that US medical schools do not take classes taken over the summer into your GPA. Is that correct?

I'd like to know this as well. I'm not taking pre-reqs, but I am going to take a couple of blow-off general education classes (liberal arts) online over the summer. If they aren't factored into GPA maybe I could just take them as pass/fail.

This is absolutely ridiculous -- Summer courses, that are taken at your university (i.e. not CCs), are absolutely taken into account on your AMCAS.

I completed the entirety of my physics series during the summer of my first year and I had to report those grades.
